Book excerpt: The rhythms in this book are intended for the person who is already proficient at playing the bodhrán and wants to add some more complex rhythms to their playing. These rhythms are inspired by funk drumming and are heavy on syncopation. There are 454 basic rhythms plus 504 variations on those rhythms using rolls. All these rhythms are appropriate for both the double-end (Kerry) and single-end (top end) styles of playing. The audio files are divided into two groups. Those in the first group are designed to help you learn the rhythms, so there is a play-along audio file for each of the 454 basic rhythms. Those in the second group are designed to let you play the rhythms along with a traditional Scottish reel at different tempos.
